Driving Tips for New Drivers

It’s always exciting when you get your drivers license and are able to drive for the first time. For some people this happens as teenagers, for some others, they are already full grown adults by the time this happens, better late than never right?

So here are a few tips to help you enjoy your driving, while keeping you and other road users safe.

Drive Slowly

First, you’re just learning how to drive, it’s only logical that you drive slowly until you fully master your driving and your car. Over speeding is one of the leading causes of road accidents especially amongst young people. So to reduce chance of accidents, make sure you drive at or even below the speed limits. When you speed, you get to where you’re going faster, but it will also take you a longer time to stop your car if you have to, and of course injuries at higher speeds are usually worse than those at lower speeds.

Obey All Traffic Rules

This goes without saying. Flouting traffic rules is a criminal offence in many countries. Following these rules will help you and other road users stay safe.

Concentrate on Your Driving

Using the phone while driving is another leading cause of accidents amongst drivers, therefore you want to avoid this practice. No fiddling with your phone, no texting or social media chatting. Avoid turning around to chat with other occupants of the car. All these extra activities will impede your ability to judge and also reduce your reaction time if sometime were to happen.

Follow The Three Second Rule

Here’s another reason why people have accidents, following other cars too closely, such that when they suddenly stop you ram into them. You should give a three seconds space between you and the vehicle in front of you.  Here’s how to do it, pick a stationary object in front of you, say a sign, tree or something, when the car in front of you passes the object, count three seconds. If you reach the object before three seconds has elapsed, it means you’re following too closely.

Use Safety Apparatus

Your seat belt is very important; it will protect you from being thrown out of your own windscreen. This alone could be that which stands between you and fatality in an accident. Before driving, also adjust your seats to a comfortable position; check your mirrors, side and rear, just make everything is in order.

Maintain Your Car

This includes routine checks and maintenance such as your brake fluids and oils and other car fluids, your tyre pressure, regular tyre rotation, wheel alignment and many more. Don’t forget to buy spare tyres, if you don’t have one, then you might want to consider buying something from Nexen tires. You can buy tyre online dubai, all you need is just visit our website and the rest is easy.

Finally, don’t Drink and Drive

I’m not sure there’s more to say about this. Drinking and driving is a crime in many countries, so just obey the traffic rules and don’t over speed, you’ll be fine in the end.
